JROTC Cadets Participate in Summer Leadership Challenge STEM Camp
Event Takes Place at Nova Southeastern University
More than 350 Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) cadets from Broward, Miami-Dade and Hillsborough counties are participating in the annual JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Camp, hosted by Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) JROTC at Nova Southeastern University.
This five-day immersive camp focuses on developing leadership, critical thinking and technical skills through hands-on Robotics, Drone Operations and Adventure Training. All activities are aligned with STEM principles, preparing cadets for future academic and career paths. Upon completion, participants earn half a high school credit in Outdoor Physical Education.
A highlight of the week is VIP Day on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, which offers community leaders the opportunity to witness firsthand the positive impact of JROTC programs on youth leadership and development.
"The JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge STEM Camp represents a unique fusion of leadership development and education," said COL Jimmy Hall, BCPS coordinator, JROTC and Military Programs. "We are proud to give our cadets skills that are relevant in and beyond the classroom."
The summer camp highlights the District's dedication to cultivating future leaders and sparking interest in high-demand STEM fields.
